I arrived downtown around 10:30 pm at the Wendy’s parking lot, where I met my friend, B. and her friend. I had a gallon of milk with me just so I could use it to help people that got teargassed. After sitting there just observing for about 30 minutes we decided to drive around downtown just to see what was going on. We pulled up and parked where the Chase ATM is downtown because there were two guys walking that had been teargassed by the FWPD. We began walking around by the courthouse. We walked further to the corner of Berry and Superior. I still had my milk in my hand opened with no cap on it, half empty. There were a group of fellow protestors/civilians standing at the corner. We sat there for maybe 15 minutes, just talking peacefully amongst each other about the events that were taking place that evening. Then approximately 20 FWPD officers came around the corner yelling, “It’s time to go” and “you can’t be here anymore” . So we begin questioning. B. said, “Why can’t we be here?” Other people are saying the same thing. Then I asked, “What happened to the protest?” and “Why are you wearing gas masks?” I was never yelling, cursing, or being disrespectful by any means to the officers. I had genuine questions about the events that were taking place in community that evening. After those two questions, I was detained by 5 officers, despite being peaceful the whole time! They had the zip ties on so tight I couldn’t feel my right thumb after 30 minutes. Even the CO’s said they were on too tight when they took them off.
